Surplus Aluminum Feeder Wire and Cable Buyers

Have aluminum feeder wire left after a project, an unused URD reel, or excess SER or SEU inventory? Contact Surplus Valve Buyer for our wire and cable purchase review. Our focus is identifiable, potentially reusable surplus: full reels, partial spools and continuous leftover lengths with documented specifications and condition. Start by phone or email with the cable type, quantity and city. Photos are helpful but optional. A review is not automatic acceptance, and damaged scrap is not a confirmed purchasing category.

A purchase review for project leftovers and excess inventory

Electricians and contractors may have unused footage after a feeder project changes. Distributors may hold excess reel inventory, while plants and other inventory owners may have cable purchased for work that never proceeded. These are different situations from a bin of stripped metal or demolition scraps. Describe why the stock is surplus and whether it has ever been installed.

Surplus wire specialists and cable resellers are documented buyers in this market, but each has its own requirements. Surplus Valve Buyer invites you to submit your material for purchase review. We prioritize aluminum XHHW-2, USE-2, URD assemblies, SER and SEU identification rather than treating every product labeled 'aluminum cable' as equivalent.

Aluminum XHHW-2: identify each conductor and reel

XHHW-2 aluminum feeder wire commonly appears as individual insulated conductors on separate reels. Record the full printed legend, manufacturer, aluminum designation, AWG or kcmil size, insulation color and footage for each reel. Three reels with different remaining lengths should be listed separately, even when they originated from the same order.

Southwire's aluminum product flyer describes its XHHW-2 example as 600-volt wire rated for wet or dry locations at conductor temperatures up to 90°C. Those details identify that product; they do not establish the ratings of every surplus reel. Copy the actual voltage and additional designations from your wire. If several conductors share one reel as a parallel arrangement, describe that packaging instead of assuming it is a jacketed multiconductor cable.

USE-2 and combined RHH/RHW-2 markings

USE-2 is a distinct designation worth preserving in your inventory description. Some aluminum conductors carry multiple designations, including RHH, RHW-2 and USE-2. Send the complete combination rather than shortening it to 'underground wire.' Southwire documents direct-burial suitability for its USE-2 conductors, but the actual product marking and matching manufacturer information remain essential.

Tell us whether your material consists of a single conductor, separately reeled conductors or a cabled assembly. Include the insulation designation and any readable voltage, sunlight-resistance or certification markings. Do not infer a building-wire rating from the USE-2 name alone. This information supports product identification for purchase review; it is not guidance for selecting or installing cable.

URD assemblies: count conductors and identify the neutral

URD inventory needs more detail than an assembly nickname. Identify whether the product is duplex, triplex or quadruplex, and list each conductor size, including the neutral. A reduced neutral makes an assembly different from one with equal-size conductors. Manufacturer code words can help locate a specification sheet, but include the printed sizes as well.

Priority Wire & Cable's triplex URD specification describes two phase conductors cabled with a neutral, 1350-H19 aluminum and cross-linked polyethylene insulation. Its neutral has identifying stripes and sequential footage markings. That particular product is documented as 600-volt, Type USE-2 cable with duct and direct-burial applications. Do not extend those attributes to every URD reel. Actual marking and certification control; 'URD' alone is not proof that an unidentified assembly is direct-burial rated.

SER and SEU: keep the complete cable designation

SER and SEU should be separate entries in a surplus list. Record the outer cable legend, all conductor sizes, conductor count and the neutral or ground details shown on the tag. An overall description such as '4/0 aluminum service cable' leaves important configuration questions unanswered. Do not substitute the insulation designation of an inner conductor for the complete cable type.

Southwire's SER specification describes a 600-volt assembly with XHHW-2 or THHN/THWN individual conductors, an insulated neutral, a bare ground and a gray jacket. Configurations vary, so verify your own cable instead of assuming one universal count. Its Type SE references also distinguish these products from underground cable: SE is not permitted underground, even in a raceway. Present SER or SEU by its actual designation, not as interchangeable URD stock.

Reusable surplus reels are different from damaged scrap

Full unused reels, partial reels with traceable markings and intact continuous remnants are the starting point for a reusable-surplus review. Give the remaining length per reel, not just the original purchase quantity. A group of separate cut pieces totaling 500 feet is not the same inventory as one continuous 500-foot length. State whether footage is confirmed, estimated or unknown.

Disclose cuts through insulation, crushed sections, exposed strands, heat damage, contamination and weather deterioration. Explain storage history and whether packaging or reel tags remain. Removed cable should be identified as previously installed, not described as unused because it has been rewound. Burned cable, stripped conductor and mixed damaged offcuts belong to a separate scrap inquiry. Scrap purchase or recycling service is not confirmed here, and no minimum length or acceptance threshold is promised.

What to include in a simple phone or email inquiry

Read the printed markings as accurately as you can. Include manufacturer, cable family, conductor material, AWG or kcmil size, length per reel or piece, number of reels and cores, voltage, and condition. For assemblies, list the phase, neutral and ground sizes separately when available. Specify whether a manufacturer label documents an aluminum alloy or other construction detail; do not guess from surface color.

State who owns the material, your authority to sell it and its city and state. Original reel tags, purchase records or matching product sheets can resolve unclear identification. Distinguish aluminum from copper and copper-clad aluminum, and keep fiber-optic inventory separate. If sending photos, useful views are a readable print legend, reel tag and overall condition. A written description is enough to begin; elaborate forms are unnecessary.

Request your aluminum wire and cable purchase review

Call Surplus Valve Buyer or email us using the contact details on this website. Begin with the family, sizes, available footage and location. If you have several cable types, a short inventory list helps keep the quantities tied to the correct specifications. Tell us which figures need confirmation and identify any damaged material separately.

We can use that information to review purchase suitability and discuss any additional details needed. Any offer, inspection requirements, payment terms and collection or shipping arrangements must be agreed for the specific lot. Do not assume pickup, a guaranteed response time or acceptance before that discussion. Keep identification labels with the material so the inquiry continues to describe the same inventory.

Seller questions

Selling aluminum wire & feeders

Can I submit a partial reel or leftover aluminum cable length?

Yes, submit it for review with its continuous remaining length, markings and condition. Identify each separate piece. A partial reel is not automatically disqualified, but there is no published minimum footage or promise that every remnant will receive an offer.

What if the original reel tag is missing?

Copy the legible cable print and describe what remains unknown. Matching paperwork may help. Do not fill gaps by guessing the voltage, alloy or certification. Unidentified material requires clarification before it can be evaluated as a documented product.

Do you buy damaged aluminum wire for scrap?

Scrap buying is not confirmed. This page invites review of potentially reusable surplus wire and cable. Disclose damaged, stripped or demolition material separately rather than assuming a recycling service or a metal-weight offer is available.

Do manufacturer names mean you are an authorized distributor?

No. Manufacturer names and any product trademarks identify the material offered by a seller. They belong to their respective owners and do not imply affiliation, endorsement or authorized-distributor status for Surplus Valve Buyer.

We buy. You sell.
