Use this practical photo checklist to show industrial valve type, tags, size, class, condition, actuators, quantity, and shipping readiness. The recommendations below are designed to reduce uncertainty before a purchase review and help sellers preserve the information that makes industrial equipment marketable.

Photograph the lot before the close-ups

Begin with wide photos that show the total quantity, how the valves are stored, and whether matching units are grouped. These images help a buyer understand scale, access, palletization, and the work required for pickup. They also prevent a frequent misunderstanding in which a few close-ups are assumed to represent a much larger or smaller lot.

Stand in a safe position with adequate light. Do not climb racks, move unstable equipment, or enter restricted process areas for a photograph. Facility safety rules take priority.

Use a repeatable sequence for each item

For an individual valve or matching group, take the same sequence every time: full front view, full rear view, side profile, both ends, nameplate, casting marks, operator or actuator, and any damage. Consistency makes comparison much faster.

Avoid digital zoom. Move closer when safe, keep the camera parallel to the tag, tap to focus, and check the image before moving to the next item. One sharp tag image is more useful than ten distant photos.

Show the end connections and sealing surfaces

Flanged faces, butt-weld ends, threaded ports, and socket-weld connections affect identity and condition. Photograph flange protectors in place, then remove them only if safe and practical for a quick sealing-surface image. Replace the protectors afterward.

Do not place hands inside an unsecured valve or rotate heavy components for a photo. If a surface cannot be reached safely, note that it was not inspected.

Capture all labels on automated valves

A complete automated assembly may include a valve tag, actuator tag, positioner label, solenoid label, limit-switch box, regulator, and separate hazardous-location markings. Each component can affect compatibility and value.

Take one photo showing how the components connect, followed by a sharp image of each label. Include the mounting bracket and coupling when visible.

Document condition without staging

Photograph corrosion, impact marks, broken handwheels, missing covers, cut wires, weathered packaging, contaminated interiors, and loose components. Do not hide damage behind a label or photograph only the clean side. Accurate condition information supports a quote that is less likely to change later.

Natural warehouse or overcast light is usually better than harsh direct sun. If flash creates glare on a metal plate, take one image with flash and one without.

Connect photos to the inventory list

Assign each valve or matching group a simple item number such as V-001. Put the number on a removable paper or magnetic tag in the wide photo, use it as the spreadsheet row identifier, and include it in every image filename.

For a large lot, create folders by item number or valve group. Preserve original-resolution files and send a share link if email compresses the photos too aggressively.

Include location and loading details

End the photo set with pallet dimensions, approximate weight, dock access, forklift availability, ground-level constraints, and site timing. Show pallets or crates from enough distance to reveal whether they are safe for freight.

A buyer can evaluate transportation more accurately when the lot and the loading environment are visible. This avoids turning a promising equipment offer into an impractical logistics problem.
