Sell Surplus Pressure Regulators

Industrial pressure regulators maintain precise downstream or upstream line pressure across natural gas distribution, steam heating, instrument air, and process vapor systems without external electric or pneumatic power. Featuring internal or external pilots, diaphragm sensing elements, and calibrated control springs, regulators are high-specification mechanical instruments that require thorough evaluation.

Buyer’s notes

What matters when selling pressure regulators.

Regulators differ dramatically from standard on-off valves because their value depends on calibrated spring ranges, pilot configurations, and orifice sizes. A Fisher 627 or 630 gas regulator configured for 5 to 20 psi service serves a completely different commercial application than one built for 100 to 250 psi high-pressure reduction. Nameplate accuracy is vital: the full body tag, spring range stamp, pilot model, and orifice diameter must be clearly documented to achieve full valuation.

Secondary market valuation and demand drivers

Self-operated gas regulators from Fisher, BelGAS, and Mooney retain very strong secondary liquidity due to constant demand from pipeline gathering, municipal utilities, and city gate stations. Pilot-operated steam regulators (such as Spence or Jordan) with stainless steel pilots and complete trim kits also command premium offers. Missing pilots, ruptured diaphragms, or corroded spring cases significantly reduce market value.

Field inspection and defect screening protocol

Examine the diaphragm casing for external impact dents, corrosion pitting, or oil seepage from the atmospheric vent. Ensure the vent screen is clean and unblocked. On pilot-operated units, verify that connecting copper or stainless steel impulse tubing is unkinked and securely fitted. Record all data stamped on both the main body tag and the pilot regulator tag.

Flange protection, packaging, and freight handling

Pressure regulators must have all sensing lines, pilot connections, and main ports capped with plastic push-in or threaded plugs to prevent dust, insects, and moisture from contaminating internal pilot passages. Package regulators inside sturdy double-walled corrugated cartons with molded foam or pack securely in wooden pallet boxes with internal dividers.

Send photographs before modifying the equipment. Preserve original tags, flange faces, packing, wiring, tubing, operators, and documentation. If prior service or condition is unknown, say so directly. A precise unknown is more credible than a guessed specification.

We assess equipment for purchase based on the available resale path and the cost of verification, handling, storage, and transportation. Submission does not guarantee an offer, but complete information allows a faster and more useful response.

Questions

Pressure Regulators seller FAQ

These answers describe our review process. They are not engineering, inspection, certification, or installation advice.

The spring range determines the exact pressure band the regulator can control. Buyers cannot use an incorrect spring range without ordering replacement parts, so identifying the stamped spring code or color ensures an accurate, immediate valuation.
